About the host - Sarah Berry |
I first came up with the idea for the group when I was a teenager.I couldn’t have sex, I didn’t know why but I dreamed of a place I could talk freely about my problem.
Every time I tried to insert anything into my fanny be it a finger, tampon, cock or courgette, I started to panic. I couldn’t tell anyone and suffering in silence led to clinical depression. When I was 21, my then boyfriend marched me to the Family Planning Clinic. Not long after I got diagnosed with vaginismus. This is a condition where the brain tells the pelvic muscles to contract when anything is inserted. |
Over the next decade, with a lot of therapy, vodka, prescription drugs, all sorts of encounters – both shameful and respectful – my fanny began to open and I was finally able to discuss it with others.
Turns out ladies have a lot to say about their fannies and as soon as people started sharing all that was normal to them, I realised how individual they all are. They are mysterious, stubborn, on fire, loose, exciting, hairy, sexy, stubbly, oozing, bloody, wet, dry, lippy, asymmetrical, fabulous and more.
I was fascinated and so I finally formed the group so you could be too. Feel free to contact me with any fanny-related thoughts or questions here.

My background
For the past ten years I have edited or contributed to erotic magazines including Foreplay, Forum, Scarlet and Peter and Sarah's Seasonal Guide to Sex. In the name of journalism (and sometimes for my own pleasure) I have been a dominatrix, gone swinging, slept with an escort, cycled naked through London, been a drag king, a ball basher and a stripper. I was named “The Queen of Rude” by Love It and have spoken about porn on Women’s Hour. I am also training to be a counsellor and volunteer for the Outsiders, a group that helps disabled people network and form relationships. If you would like to interview me or find out more about Fannies Rule, please contact me here.
